CDC Guidelines:

Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others

  • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.

    • Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

  • The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.

  • Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.

  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

About the Mask Maker

A cancer survivor and one of the many who are following strict quarantine due to multiple "underlying conditions", Rachel Kent decided the best way to spend her time during this #stayhome order was to stop worrying and find a way to help. On April 1st, Rachel got out her sewing machine (still in the box from Christmas two years ago), made a TON of mistakes and figured out this sewing thing. As demand for masks grew, Rachel created this website to funnel requests-- since then she has been sewing non-stop!

A 1999 graduate of West Seneca East, Rachel is a lifelong resident and career educator in WNY. She is excited to join the team of Buffalo Creek Academy (a civics focused charter school) in July as their Academic Success Coordinator.

Are you finding yourself with extra time during this #stayhome order?

Kids driving you nuts and they need something to do?

Here are a few ways you can help:

1. Grab some fabric & cut out patterns! Gently used t-shirts work great! https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/
(Ordinary Face Mask Sewing Pattern WITH 1/4″ seam allowance included.)

2. Snag some 1/4 inch elastic and cut into 7 inch strips!

3. Make posters for Project Warmth and share them on your social media accounts! Share a pic with me and I will post it on our website!

4. Make cards or treat packs to include with our shipments to the troops!

Thanks for submitting!
